Welcome to AP Biology! AP Biology is the equivalent of an introductory college-level biology course that will survey a wide variety of topics within the life sciences such as genetics, ecology, evolution, cell biology and biochemistry. Science is a constantly changing and growing field driven by a combination of collaborative and independent work. Therefore, there is a large amount of information within this course and the concepts have complex interactions. You will be challenged to draw connections between the big ideas within the AP Biology Curriculum Framework and apply these concepts to real world problems. Although you will have to work to be successful, I hope that you will enjoy this year and find the content engaging and interesting.
The AP Biology curriculum centers around 4 Big Ideas, and the following topics are embedded within the 4 Big Ideas:
Biochemistry
Biological Molecules
Cellular Organelles
Cellular Transport
Energy
DNA/Protein Synthesis
Cell Division
Gene Regulation
Genetics
Evolution
Ecology
Plant Biology
